Meet Sergio Porres
Candidate for Irving City Council District 2
Sergio is a proud Texan and dedicated resident of Irving. He and his wife, Emily, are raising their six children here—Liliana (13), Isabel (11), Xavier (10), Serafina (7), Ignatius (5), and Santiago (2)—which is why protecting Irving’s neighborhoods and culture is so important to him. Sergio wants the best for his family and for all families in Irving.
Sergio earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and has built a successful 20-year career in IT. He has led teams on cutting-edge projects in defense, entertainment, and process automation, gaining firsthand experience in the innovation and hard work that drive American success.
Beyond his career, Sergio is an active member of the Irving community. He participates in father-son clubs, coaches various youth sports teams, and, alongside Emily, recently launched an educational co-op based at Plymouth Park Baptist Church. His deep involvement keeps him connected to what matters most—the people of Irving.
Public service runs in Sergio’s blood. His father, a doctor and military veteran, and his mother, a retired teacher, instilled in him a strong sense of duty to serve others. Their example inspired him to step up and make a difference.
Sergio chose Irving as the place to raise his family because of its strong, family-centered community and professional opportunities. His children have thrived in local sports leagues, Baila Ballet Academy, and character-building programs led by fellow Irving residents. He believes this kind of community interconnectedness is essential for a healthy society. That’s why he is committed to protecting and expanding family housing and ensuring that outside developers don’t recklessly destroy the character of Irving.
Sergio is ready to earn your vote and put Irving families first!
